Welcome! In this gallery, you'll be entering the pages of my sketch pad, and the gateway to my "printmaking studio". (Come on in and smell the inks! ;))

Lately I've realized that I have made the mistake of falling away from sketching (*pauses long enough to look guilty*) which is too valuable a tool for cultivating ideas, keeping them fresh, and capturing all of those 'in the moments' of life, in addition to giving the drawing hand a good workout, to do so. I'm hoping that the little extra incentive of not wanting this space to look too naked will get me back on the ball with filling those pages again. In 'my sketchbook' you'll find studies for future works, some spontaneous 'nothings' and some finished graphite works.

The many methods of printmaking became something that I fell in love with without really meaning to. It just happened that a beginning printmaking class fell into my initial university schedule by chance, and I figured I'd 'poke my head in' and see what this stuff was all about. Right away, the methods, the classes, that brilliant tonality that can be achieved in different ways, and even the smell of those inks (which I know think is in my blood…what else could turn that into a good smell? ;)) definitely captured me and made Printmaking among my favorite media types to work in. It is an avenue that I want to continue to explore, experiment with, and deepen my appreciation for, and while I'm without a studio and set up for the moment to print more editions and try new projects, I hope to find the time and place to do just that in the future.

Light, Dark, and all those wonderful "shades of gray" in between---I'm a big believer in the wide spectrum of tonality in everything, from subjects to people and perceptions, and there's just something about those shades of gray and trying to see just how many levels you that you can pull from a subject that pulls me in, in return.
